FOSTER CARE RECRUITMENT
For information on becoming a
foster parent in St. Clair County,
please call Sherry Russell at 1-888-326-2565 for information.
NorServ Group, Ltd. is an avenue in which people interested in becoming a foster parent can become linked with one of the three child placing agencies in St. Clair County. The three child placing agencies each have their own focus to meet the needs of vulnerable children. In order to provide foster care for children, certain criteria must be met and the home must be licensed. Licensing requirements, as well as the types of children that each agency places, vary.
The three child placing agencies include: Catholic Social Services, Community Mental Health, and the Department of Human Services St. Clair County. All of these agencies desire to increase the number of licensed homes within the County. NorServ works to answer questions that you have about all of the agencies by calling just one number. By matching the type(s) of children that you are interested in with each of the agency's specialties and needs, we can link you with the next available training that meets licensing requirements.
St. Clair County has a particular need at this time for licensed homes that are willing to take sibling groups (a group of children belonging to the same family), teen (boys or girls), children with mental and/or emotional handicaps, as well as of a minority race or culture.
Foster Care can be a very rewarding - but challenging - way to help children. If you have room in your heart and a room in your home, consider adding the smile of a child.
These services are funded in part by
The State of Michigan Dept. of Human Services
and the NorServ Group, Ltd.
